Man in a Bowler Hat

Meet Magritte. At least I think it’s Rene Magritte. Maybe it’s a portrait symbolizing the Generic Gent? Or perhaps I’ve missed the point, and it’s all about The Dove??! Ah heck, Surrealism is so confusing.

Perplexing people came naturally to Magritte. He forged paintings and sold them as originals (just the occasional Van Gogh, Picasso and Manet). He made fake bank notes and quietly reproduced his own artwork to make additional sales. Actually, I can’t blame him for that.
